Welcome to Gawthorpe Brass '85 and thanks for visiting our website. We hope you like it!
We are proud of being a little different to many other community Brass Bands. We are a family of around 150 people, of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who come together to make music. As you may have guessed from our name, we were formed in 1985, and we rehearse in the village of Gawthorpe in Ossett, Wakefield.
Our brand new CD, entitled 'Victorious!' has recently been released and is now available to buy. Visit the 'GB'85 goodies' tab for information on how to purchase it and click on 'Listen to us now!' tab for a preview of some of the tracks.
Our organisation is very fortunate to have a Senior Band, a Youth/Junior Band, a Training Band, a Beginners Club, a Music Workshop and a Music Fun Club. We are completely self-financing, and therefore rely on making music that people want to listen to.
Our Senior Band qualified for the Fourth Section National Championships of Great Britain in 2013 and have also been featured on Simon Cowell's new prime time TV programme, Food Glorious Food!
Our repertoire is very diverse, from traditional marches & hymns, all the way through to the pieces from stage & screen. We've even featured music from 'The Killers'!
We are very proud to have David Horsfield (ex Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick, James Shepherd Versatile Brass and one of the nicest men on earth) as our President. Leigh Baker (ex Jayess, Brighouse & Rastrick to name but a few) is our Honorary Vice President, who is married to Rachael Elsworth, daughter of our founding member, Susan Elsworth.
Our site is constantly developing, so if you have any suggestions you'd like us to consider, please contact our webmaster on:
